- This 556-page volume offers a detailed new synthesis of South Asian archaeology. It is unique in scope (obtaining data from a wide range of often obscure secondary sources spanning geographical regions from Oman to the Andaman Islands and chronological periods from the Mesolithic to Early Historic) and thematic coverage (encompassing topics from the impact of environmental change to major urban developments), as well as its theoretical relevance. It represents a major investment of academic time: two six month dedicated periods of institutional Study Leave, plus research time over the last 6 years. Each author contributed 50%.
