- This is the first monograph to offer a detailed chronological approach to Rego's pictures and prints within a theoretical framework. The book focuses on the complex literary (English and Portuguese) and artistic intertextual references which have been key to the development of Regos aesthetic across 60 years. The book includes 350 illustrations, some of which have not previously appeared in book form, and which were only available in either slide, or Portuguese or UK exhibition catalogues. Research (funded by a Leverhulme fellowship) for the book required visits to Regos museum in Cascais, and galleries in London and Portugal.
