- This joint research with IBM Canada (wrjaibi@ca.ibm.com) presents a practical approach to provide data security and privacy in multitiered applications. The security control methods were implemented in IBM’s DB2-v11.1 as native capabilities in March 2019 and were immediately accessible to all Db2 customers. These methods enable compliance with legislative mandates, e.g., GDPR and HIPAA, in a cost-effective manner. The proposed techniques were advertised in DB2 product documentation and to the user community. The research formed the basis for ongoing collaboration with IBM Canada, producing (Rjaibi et al., 2020, 10.1016/j.jpdc.2020.01.006) a follow-up paper, 2 IEEE newsletter articles and 1 PhD completion.
