- The article summarises development and implementation work undertaken over a period of several years, starting with a prototype developed at the University of Leicester in 2007 funded by a private contract from Yorkshire Water (Equipment Performance Centre Manager, SSE Renewables). The work describes in detail the global step-changes taking place with the move towards Industry 4.0, in the context of the UK. As a direct result of the research and this article, an invited talk was given at the closing keynote session of the 4th World Congress on Robotics in Shenyang, PR China in September 2019.
