- This monograph is the culmination of ten years’ research. At 90,000 words in length it is original in argument and expansive in its coverage, exploring numerous writers and placing them within new contexts. The full manuscript underwent rigorous double-blind peer review and was revised and reviewed again before publication. It has already made a significant study in the field and has been positively reviewed in leading journals; the review in Modernism/modernity identified it as a cornerstone of the ‘new Decadence studies’. One reason for being identified as such as that it contributes to ongoing debates on Decadence in the 1920s.
