- This monograph is the main product of a four-year research project, building on years of previous investigation. It rests on the collection and analysis of discussions of Thucydides from sources in French, German, Italian and Latin as well as English, many of which had to be translated, from across a 500-year period. These sources were then integrated into an original argument about the complex ways in which Thucydides and his historical methodology have been interpreted over the centuries, exploring the wider intellectual context of changing ideas of historiography in different national traditions.
