- I was one of the handful of scientists stationed at the LIGO Livingston site, working day in and out installing new hardware and commissioning the detector to achieve record sensitivity. In particular, I facilitated the use of higher laser power by building the new Faraday isolator and implementing the new control scheme to minimise radiation pressure noise. I measured the contribution of angular control noise to the sensitivity and helped commission the new DC readout technique of acquiring the gravitational wave signal. All these aspects of the system and their importance to the achieved performance are mentioned in the paper.
