- This recent work demonstrates an optimisation approach to distribute virtual network functions across user devices, edge devices and cloud servers, building on recent Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) efforts on “Service Function Chains”. Detailed performance simulations are performed based on representative networks generated by the GT-ITM tool and compared to benchmark algorithms from the field. The work results from a collaborative research laboratory between Dalian University of Technology (China) and Cardiff.
