- This paper reports the results of a collaboration between Los Alamos National Laboratory, US, and the University of Wollongong, Australia. Comprised of both experimental and simulations studies, it provides clear proof of the twinning-detwinning phenomenon and the quantification of its effects for the first time - advances that may impact upon fabrication process in e.g. the vehicle manufacturing industry that involve multi-step metal forming. This research was supported by US Department of Energy (project FWP 06SCPE401) and Australian Research Council (Discovery Project DP130101882 and “Linkage Infrastructure, Equipment and Facilities” grant LE0882613).
