- Double-weighted statement
- This 350-page monograph, which developed out of a much earlier and shorter preliminary study (published in Welsh in 1995, 243pp), is double-weighted to reflect the depth and breadth of its significantly expanded research base, its extended geographical range, and its fresh assessment of and challenge to recent scholarship. Based on a rigorous and extended analysis of the records of the Methodist movement, as well as extensive archival research into Anglican Church records, estate collections, contemporary literature and charity school statistics, it reassesses the socio-economic background of recruits in a geographical area of considerable significance for the early impact of Methodism.
