- Being Gorgeous is a sole-authored monograph comprising 10 years of desk-based research and field work in the US and across the UK where the focus was on women’s bodies, feminized performance and spectatorship. This output represents a period of sustained critical engagement and analysis of film, live art, burlesque and cabaret, fine art and fashion. The research required extensive synthesis of interdisciplinary bodies of knowledge, critical approaches and conceptual frameworks in order to offer up new experiential ‘performative’ ways of understanding the gendered dynamic of looking and being-looked-at.
