- This 286-page monograph is the product of five years of research. It evaluates Dante’s treatment of erotic love and its relationship with the divine, arguing that his approach should be understood as integrative rather than dualistic. It makes a major contribution to the scholarship and will be a key point of reference for scholars investigating Dante and his culture. It is situated within a wide cultural and critical context and offers original interpretations of Dante’s relationship with three writers from Italian and Occitan traditions. It explores Dante’s entire oeuvre and brings it into dialogue with a wide range of sources.
