- Double-weighted statement
- This monograph is based on extensive and sustained archival research in seven different countries, completed over a period of six years. The research process involved juxtaposing material from a range of state and non-state actors, including trade unions, employers’ associations, European institutions, and accessing a large number of private papers. By tracing the topic across several distinct regimes and periods, the monograph contributes to debates in distinct fields, from Vichy France to the history of European integration. It also places the French case in a broader, comparative context, which necessitated engaging with primary sources and historiographical debates in several countries.
