- Although security is widely accepted as an important element of any organisation’s strategy, balancing security risks and investment for security is an area of great uncertainty. This paper is significant because it presents a model designed to aid security managers with decisions regarding the optimal allocation of a cyber security budget and has generated community interest into research in cyber investment methodologies (e.g. Hadar et al., IEEE RE 2020). This work has been extended in the NCSC-funded MERIT and the EU-funded CUREX (grant agreement 826404) and SECONDO (grant agreement 823997) projects.
