- The research on which this book is based represents work that took place over an extended period of time and necessitated an extensive process of analysis. The author spent six months in the field accompanying and observing Police Community Police Officers in two police forces, often in difficult settings. The analysis of complex qualitative data collected from field notes and thematically-coded interviews took over a year to complete. The research process, data, analysis and the overall findings are too lengthy and detailed to be discussed within a standard length journal article.
