- The book draws on ten years of cumulative research. Despite the long collaboration between the two authors and their other joint publications, none of the core material in the book was published elsewhere. The book addresses major arguments on the relationship between democracy and capitalism using rich historical and contemporary analysis. It uses methods from political economy, economic geography, econometrics, and game theory. Its comparative scope also involves studies on 14 countries, including UK, US Germany and others from Sweden to Australia to South Korea and Israel.
