- The work opened up this new area of gyroscopic chiral elastic metamaterials. The 'Daser' is a new mechanism for directing sharply focussed elastic waves in a metamaterial. This work in gyroscopic chiral metamaterials led to ISJ being invited to deliver a keynote lecture at the 10th European Solid Mechanics Conference, Bologna 2018 (https://insigneo.org/2017/01/10th-european-solid-mechanics-conference-esmc-2018/). This output was supported by EPSRC (EP/L024926/1, £2.55m, 2014-2020) and EU through an ERC Advanced Grant ‘Instabilities and non-local multiscale modelling’ (FP7-PEOPLE-IDEAS-ERC-2013-AdG, grant ID 340561, €2.38m, 2014-2019). The work has been used in vibration channelling and manipulation for elastic materials (Applied Physics Letters, Vol.114(4), University Trento, bigoni@ing.unitn.it).
