- This monograph was the result of over eight years’ research, and is based on extensive archival work. The author used documents found in 17 archives, both public and private, located in three different countries and 7 different locations, some of which are in the remote north of Russia. The collection of archival materials continued until the last stages of production. The monograph went through two stages of peer review and revision.
