- Using TOSCA, an OASIS standard, provides a standardised format to describe cloud applications. However, facilitating portability between various clouds still remains an open issue. This paper presents novel ways of applying TOSCA to support cloud portability. The paper is significant as the results have already been applied by a significant number of use case scenarios, mainly in healthcare and manufacturing. Besides the example presented in the paper, two further healthcare organisations are implementing portable cloud applications based on the solution (https://www.asclepios-project.eu/). Additionally, 21 application experiments within the DIGITbrain European project (https://digitbrain.eu/) are implementing similar solutions for the manufacturing sector.
