- Double-weighted statement
- This book critically examines the role of humour in contemporary Palestinian art and film as a response to political uncertainty and the decline in nationalist hope. It is the first study to investigate Palestinian art and film in a single text, revealing the ways in which they developed in response to critical moments in Palestinian history. The book makes a significant contribution to debates about humour and identity, arguing that laughter is a critical transgressive reaction to the failure of the peace process and ongoing occupation, and that it forges a sense of Palestinian collective identity.
