- Double-weighted statement
- This monograph is unusual both for its length (at 150,000 words), and for the scale of its coverage. Each chapter focuses on a specific author who has generated a voluminous specialist scholarship; and the work engages with multiple scholarly literatures across a range of academic disciplines (philosophy, history, political theory, literary studies). The book results from a major, long term research project which was funded by the AHRC, an ERC-funded project 2014-2017, and subsequently on a Leverhulme Trust-funded project 2017-2020.
