- Double-weighted statement
- This (305pp) monograph expands upon research the author undertook over a decade. It applies historical, sociocultural and psychoanalytic methodologies to a comprehensive examination of major 1970s Italian cult film genres (giallo thrillers, urban cop narratives, erotic comedy cycles and post apocalypse films), whist profiling the filmmakers responsible for their creation. The volume considers these texts in terms of wider social, political and gender anxieties that dominated Italy during the decade. Research from the volume also informed the author’s documentary That’s la Morte: Italian Cult Cinema and the years of Lead (2018).
