- This jointly-authored volume represents the culmination of over ten years of innovative leadership on the part of its co-authors in promoting doctoral programmes of practice-based research in practical theology. The authors propose seven original working theses articulating new perspectives on the conception, design, conduct and dissemination of advanced enquiry, and the nature of theological understanding engendered through evaluating their own and others’ research practice. The concept of ‘communities of practice’ -- hitherto little-used in theological studies -- highlights the interdisciplinary and contextual nature of such activity, as well as being embodied in the collaborative nature of the authorship itself.
