- This work demonstrated the ultra low-latency hardware acceleration of error correction for mobile communications. Its commercial viability was explored in a SETsquared Innovation to Commercialisation of University Research (ICURe) grant (£50k, December 2015), which resulted in Innovate UK Aid For Start-Ups funding (£500k, May 2016, 900037) and creation of the spin-out AccelerComm Ltd. The IP was assigned to AccelerComm, who now have corresponding patents granted in USA (US10439645B2) and pending in Europe (EP3180865A1) and China (CN107113006A). AccelerComm has received £3m of investment from IP Group and Bloc Ventures and now employs 20 staff and is valued at over £7.5m.
