- This book is the product of an extended piece of research which entailed a multi-archive study spanning several periods of field work from 2002 to 2016 and incorporated both documentary history and interviews. Materials were accessed in archives in the UK (Hennessey Collection), Havana (eg Biblioteca Nacional, Instituto de Literatura y Linguistica, personal collections), and elsewhere. Interviews were conducted in the UK and Havana. The complex in-depth investigation stemming from analysis of the extensive empirical material generated new perspectives on youth as a unit of historical analysis, enhancing historiographic approaches and contemporary understandings of societal structures and cultures.
