- Emerging from a Wellcome Trust funded project, this work reports on the development/invention of a tinted contact lens (first ever) for aiding colour-blind patients. The project received extensive public interest and was featured in a myriad of international news media. The invention was featured in the prestigious Nature Photonics journal in the form of a review written by its Chief Editor; “Combating colour blindness” (https://doi.org/10.1038/s41566-018-0173-9). The project led to collaborations with clinicians for conducting patient trials. The project also resulted into a patent filed and commercial translational activities with two companies (a Sports eyewear manufacturer and an Optometry Consultancy service).
