- This is a monograph of 95,000 words which is the product of a sustained research effort over several years. It represents an extended and complex piece of research that produces a sustained argument on Victorian nationhood and mobility. This argument traverses the work overall and is developed through the analysis of a substantial body of Victorian literature. The topic is investigated in depth and each of the monograph’s four chapters centres on a different contextual framework and selection of primary material for its analytical focus.
