- Cable integrity concerns the offshore wind industry; 90% of insurance claims are attributed to cable failures, but mitigated by mechanical protection. We report the first-ever full-scale reliability test of such components. The industrial relevance led to considerable press coverage (Offshore Wind; Subsea World News). The tests were instrumental in receiving DNV-GL certification: CPNL is the first global supplier to receive this certification on its systems, based on test results at the University of Exeter [ton.tuk@cpnl.eu, Director CPNL Engineering, Germany]. The system is deployed across seven wind farms and a new technical standard considers adopting the test method.
