- This 71,000 word monograph provides an extended theoretical treatment of so called ‘smart’ devices and technologies. The monograph investigates philosophical questions around the nature of technology and technical objects and rethinks these questions through a creative reading of debates in human geography around technology and space. The book is composed of eight original chapters, drawing upon empiricism from diverse sources, including policy and marketing documents and technical specifications of smart technology systems. The result is a highly original critical insight into how smart devices are shaping space, time and politics in everyday life.
