- This monograph is the culmination of a pioneering collaborative project between the authors lasting over three years. Bridging perspectives from a range of fields, notably sociolinguistics, applied linguistics, political philosophy and political theory, its ambitious interdisciplinary approach treads new ground by developing an innovative common theoretical framework to study the ethics of language policy. Far-reaching in its coverage, it draws on in excess of 450 primary and secondary sources to analyse complex ethical challenges underpinning three different types of language planning, explored through the insightful case study of Quebec. Of the 71,000 words, Oakes was responsible for writing over 70%.
