- The 80,000-word monograph represents a significant theoretical and empirical advancement of our understanding of how political power can influence transboundary water politics in a so-far understudied region such as contemporary Central Asia. To this end, the book draws on political geography, political ecology, area studies and studies on nationalism to develop an innovative approach to the study of hydraulic infrastructure. Data collection for this book was carried out over a 7-year period (2011-2017) and included the coding of more than 500 documents.
