The Covid-19 pandemic has brought greater emphasis on the role of universities in supporting recovery. We have adapted our strategy to respond to this and published a Prospectus for Recovery. This reinforces our commitment to a green recovery through aligning our research strengths and commercialisation activities to enable sustainable economic growth. We have accelerated the creation of our GRIs in NetZero Carbon and Medical Technologies to reflect this. The pandemic has created significant challenges for our PDRs and PhD students. Early in 2020 we moved quickly to support these communities by minimising disruption to PDRA contracts of employment and the provision of funded extensions (£420k) for PhD students. Personal development courses were moved online and our health and wellbeing support was strengthened.
